Description

We're not a fancy website, so I've listed the eggs available up above in the ( ), which we update as quick as we can as they sell. Please don't order more than what's listed. It's not a perfect system and we do our best to make the changes quickly. You're more than welcome to send a message or give a call for availability. We'll contact you after you've placed your order to arrange for a mutually agreeable pickup or dropoff time.

Chicken eggs are brown and sold by the dozen. Duck eggs are sold by the half-dozen. They have a richer flavor than chicken eggs, a thicker shell, along with a larger yolk, and more albumen (the egg white), which has less water content than other eggs. This make them great for baking and eating. Our goose eggs, which are sold individually, are roughly the same as about 2 - 2 1/2 chicken eggs and have a very thick shell. They also contain more yolk and white, about half being yolk vs a chicken egg at about 1/3 yolk. In our experience, they make a delicious custard but with the higher water content of the white, not a good mousse or for whipping. Folks also like to use them for decoration and Pysanka eggs. We enjoy their mild taste for eating and have a delicious pound cake recipe for them.

We offer mutually convenient pick-ups and local drop-offs when we're out and about in the Frankfort, Washington Court House, and Chillicothe areas. Please call or text (740)656-4592 to arrange this. In keeping with Ohio food safety laws, our eggs are refrigerated as soon as they are gathered. If you are looking for hatching eggs, please let us know ahead of time.

Our chickens, ducks, and geese free range our chemical free pastures and in and around our pond during the day. At night they are tucked into their houses so they are safe from various nighttime predators.

Location

Welcome!

The Silver Maple Farm is a small working family farm.  We enjoy visitors but ask that you contact us before visiting to make sure we will be around and also are not busy.  We have a cutoff time of 10:00 p.m. on Sunday nights for ordering baked goods and a pickup time on Thursdays of the same week between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m., unless other arrangements are made in advance.  If there is a change in the schedule due to holidays or events, we will post the changes here, on our website, and also on the social media websites Facebook and Instagram.
