2012 Lambs

Picture
Our 2012 lambing and selling season is finished.  Please check back in the spring for pictures and information on 2013 lambs.  We're expecting them from mid-April and into May.

Brown Baby (B.B.) - SOLD - B.B. is at his new home.

Picture
Brown Baby was born here at The Silver Maple Farm on April 6, 2009.  Since then he is a great ram to have around.  His sire is Brennan Ram B2H 028R and his dam is Schul Ewe M1H 56N.  He has a wonderful temperment and gets along with all of the other animals here, be it sheep, horses, or poultry.  He has been one of our breeding rams for three years.  He has a larger build and has helped produce awsome lambs.  His horns are close to his face, which we will happily notch out for you if you would like.  Even so, the lambs he has sired have grown nicely shaped horns.  Little Man, another ram here, is his son and sports a very nice set of horns.  Like our other Icelandics, B.B. doesn't particularly like the high temperatures we've been having, but he copes pretty well.  You'll usually find him at the fans or laying down in the shade by the pond.  Laying down being his favorite position most times of the year.
Now you want to know why we're selling him... Sometimes it's just time to let one move on to another farm.  Because we have his son here also, and are bringing in a new line this summer, we need to decrease the number of rams we have.  If you are looking for a larger proven Icelandic ram for your flock we encourage you to take a look at B.B.

Badge - Sold.  Badge is at his new home.

Picture
Badge was born here at The Silver Maple Farm on  April 15, 2009.  His sire is Brennan Ram B2H 028R and his dam is Shul Ewe B2H 74P (Josie).  He has a great disposition for a ram and also has a larger build.  This is his second year we have bred him.  Last year he and Dandy had a ram lamb and this year he and Dandy had both a ewe and ram lamb.  The Kid took him to the Ross County Fair last year.  You can read about his accomplishments under Silver Maple Family/News From the Trees.  He made quite an impression on everyone there.
We are looking to re-home Badge for no reason other than my having brought in a new ram and we don't have a lot of land to support too many of them.  The Kid is also beginning a new breeding project with Leicester Longwools, so that also needs to be taken into consideration.  If you are interested in more information on Badge please let us know.

BMQ Scarlet Princess (Rain) - Registered American Quarter Horse
$950.00

Picture
Nope, she's not a sheep, but I'm listing here anyway.  Rain (3963860) is a sorrel registered AQH that was born on March 12, 2000 at Blue Mount Quarter Horses in Minnesota (http://www.bmqhorses.com/WelcomeBMQHorses.shtml) . She has a blaze and socks on all of her feet.  Her sire is The Epitome (2006456) and her dam is Dark Rum Princess (2023679).  We took Rain to train with Jerry Parker (http://jlphorsemanship.com/) two summers ago and I also enjoyed showing her at his horse show while she was there.  Jerry has a fantastic calm and caring way of training horses
Rain is a beautiful girl and has loads of potential.  I also know she has had foals twice before coming here.  Your wondering why I am selling her...I bought her several years ago, but she's always been more Hon's horse than mine.  This is for no reason other than, I must admit, I'm more of a passive horse rider.  I like to get on a horse that likes to walk and relax.  Rain has the potential to be so much more.  Hon works long hours and when he is home there is always a lot to do and it's not really fare to keep her as a pasture ornament when there is a perfect place for her where she can meet her potential.  I occasionally work her in the round pen, but it's just not the same as getting up on her and riding like she would enjoy.  I'm sure if you contact Jerry he'll tell you how well she worked with him.  If you are the right home for Rain, please let me know so we can get her over to your place.  She's a beautiful joy!
