2015 Icelandic Lambs

Lambing season 2015 is finished at The Silver Maple Farm.  We have a wonderful array of lambs to choose from this year. Fifteen in all!  That's a record for us.  Please don't be shy about asking us questions.  We're happy to provide you with more pictures to help you make your decision, and of course you're always welcome to visit and see them first hand.  We'll be posting more pictures as the days go by and updating you on how they're doing.  I apologize for the blurry ones that are posted.  I will be adding better ones soon.  I have a new camera and it's taking me a bit of time to get used to focusing on my own instead of letting the camera do it for me.
Our ram lambs are $350.00 and ewe lambs are $400.00.  Icelandics sold for breeding purposes will be registered through our farm and the Canadian Livestock Records Corporation.  They may be transferred into your name at the current transfer price, if you would like, after the purchase is complete.

Lucy's and Fella's Lambs - April 15, 2015

Lucy was following in her mother's footsteps this year by blessing us with triplets.  She had a smooth birthing experience and has absolutely no problems taking care of them.

This fella was born first and is doing great he listens to Lucy and plays well with the other lambs. He has a patch of white behind his horns and a few tufts of white on one of his hind legs. He enjoys an occasional scratch behind the ears.  No birthing problems.

Luna's and Handsome Harry's Lamb - April 18, 2015

Picture
Male - 7 lbs. - Unavailable
This is Luna's first year as a mom.  Like Crystal, she is doing an excellent job.  Her son is well adjusted and friendly, both with us and the flock.  He had a bit of help with his birth by way of easily straightening out his front legs.  After that he came out quick and has been doing great ever since.

Dahlia's and Fella's Lamb - April 19, 2015

Picture
Female - 4 lbs.
This little cutie is a little beauty.  We're still surprised Dahlia had a single, but it's a perfect match this year.  She's doing very well and is the apple of her mom's eye. No birthing problems.

Trixie's and Brother's Lambs - April 26, 2015

Female - 5.2 lbs. - Unavailable
A beautiful little girl.  She looks great and is a joy to see playing in the pasture.  No birthing problems.

Female - 6.2 lbs.
She and her sister are almost identical.  The only way I can tell them apart is by the different phenomelanin patch on their legs.  If they were our children we'd have a hard time telling them apart from a distance.  No birthing problems.

Daisy's and Fella's Lambs - April 27, 2015

Daisy's is one of two births this year I wasn't there to witness.  When I went out in the morning we saw that she had two adorable little ewe lambs, one that seemed to have gotten her nose facing the corner of their area and not able to turn herself around, the other nursing under Daisy.  Sunny had a weak suck and wasn't able to latch onto Daisy's udder very well, so I began bottle feeding her to make sure she was getting enough nutrition.  Daisy seemed to like the partnership that was created, so we've just kept on with it. Sunny isn't having any problems now. Daisy nurses Flower, but we're also supplementing her with a bottle, as she doesn't seem to be getting quite enough, an issue Daisy hasn't had in the past.  Flower takes a bit of the bottle to top herself off and then goes on her way, sometimes not wanting anything from us at all besides a hug and a scratch.  Please excuse the pictures.  I will get one up of them separately.  They see me in the pasture and make a b-line for attention.

Female - 4.6 lbs - "Sunny" - Staying at The Silver Maple for now
We're helping Daisy by bottle feeding this little girl.  She's as sweet as sweet can be.  We weren't there for her birth, but when we found her she was cold, having been cleaned and cared for, but had her nose in a corner and couldn't get herself out.  Daisy leads her around, showing her the important stuff, but we're making sure she's fed.

We're also helping Daisy bottle feed Flower, although Daisy also nurses her.  When we saw her in with Daisy after she was born she was cleaned and nursing.  She enjoys spending time with Daisy, Sunny, and the rest of the flock.  We tell her and her sister apart by the small moorit spot she has on her side, which you can see in the picture above Sunny's name.  Flower is the one to the north of my legs.

He didn't have any birthing problems.

She is the last ewe lamb born here for the 2015 season.  She, like her brother, have facial markings the likes as of which we've not seen before.  Very unique and distinctive.  She's very friendly towards us and other sheep, and enjoys hanging out with the lambs.  She didn't have any birthing problems.
